I incorporated many facts of Mayan culture, history, places, events and research into the book. Tikal is a famous Mayan religious mecca with towering pyramids hidden in the jungle which the Spaniards tried to find because of its rumored treasures. This story involves a quest of some Mayan people who try to outwit the Spaniards and journey in search of Tikal in order to protect its treasures, books, documents and sacred city from the greedy Spaniards. It includes real conquistadors such as Pedro de Alvarado and Hernan Cortez and Mayan Lords and leaders such as Tecum Uman. The battles, sacred cities, geographical features, special places and Tikal itself are from historical records.Today Tikal in eastern Guatemala is a world heritage site, a partially restored city in the jungle, a popular tourist attraction and one of the most remarkable preserved Mayan empire cities.
